F*ck Andropause!
Yes, Victoria. Manopause is Real.
In This Special (Belated) Dad's Day Edition
F*ck Andropause!
Yes.
Manopause is a thing!
Though... It's actually called Andropause,.
Most people just call it Male Menopause though.
Sometimes, doctors call it Low-T. (The T stands for testosterone and ignores that higher estrogen than testosterone is actually what's problematic.)
Now, both men and women have testosterone AND estrogen. Testosterone in women even helps make estrogen. So does DHEA. Well, actually, DHEA makes testosterone and estrogen.
So, what can a man with Manopause expect?
Glad you asked.
A man with too much estrogen, and not enough testosterone, will actually have very similar experiences to women in the menopause transition.
They have uncontrollable emotions, cry when they sing songs they wrote about eagles on national TV, don't want to do the nasty no mo, and are generally lackadaisical and boring. IE: depressed.
Plus, they get Manopause middle too.
Hormone imbalance affects us all, just at different times and for women it comes on suddenly whereas men get snuck up on, gradually. So they don’t really notice until they are just a puddle of mush.
Ok. Not all men turn into a puddle of mush.
Alright. No one ever turns into a puddle of mush - from hormone imbalances anyway. You know what I mean though.
Like Menopause, Andropause affects men differently. Like some women, not all men notice much of a difference.
Now, whether or not parasites play a role in a more difficult Andropause, the way it does for Menopause, hasn't been studied much. It has been studied though. Once that I could find. In relation to parasites from mosquitos. It did show some cause and effect. But, I couldn’t find any other studies with the more common parasites in relation to Andropause.
(Let's face it. Men and the medical profession are even more in denial about Andropause than they are about needing to ask for directions.)
But, since the mechanism for hormone creation is the same in parasites regardless of their host, having too much estrogen as a male may well be because of parasites.
No one can balance their hormones with parasite infections...
Regardless of how manly they are.
Kickin Low-T With Vitamin D (And a Few Other Herbs and Supplements)
So, you have some hormonal imbalances, and Manopause is kicking your butt.
You already cleaned up your diet, did a parasite cleanse, a general detox, rebuilt your microbiome, and now you want to re-balance things out. Buuuut... you don't want to flood your body with free roaming testosterone.
So. Now what?
Well, Vitamin D is one key.
A good male herbal formula with Ashwaganda, Maca, Rhodiola, Tribulus, Horny Goat Weed (actual name)... basically all the good adaptogenic herbs that also work for women to balance out their hormones as well.
Don't forget the DHEA.
Some people also swear by Turkesterone. Which is being used a lot recently just to enhance lean muscle mass. So, yeah. Regular exercise is actually really important to keep your hormones balanced too.
There are a few things that can help get your hormones back to center. Including cleaning up your diet and getting enough rest and hydration.
Keeping them there mostly just involves eating your greens with enough protein, getting sunshine while you exercise, and supporting your good gut bugs.
For every body.
But… if that doesn’t seem to be enough… keep scrolling to see some recommendations for herbs and supplements that might help a little more.
Recommendations and Reviews:
Try It, Or Don't... It's Your Body
Here you go. I did the research for you.
Well, I did the research. Everyone should still DYOR (Do Your Own Research).
Medical Disclosure:
I am not a medical professional. These are some things I have used with success. Or know people who have. If you have serious medical conditions, or have an inclination that you might need to have a professional guide you through a cleanse - of any kind - seek qualified medical advise. Likewise if you are not sure what your body needs or doesn’t. A good blood work up to see what your vitamin and mineral levels are is just as good as a hormone panel check. But also: always DYOR and use your voice to ask informed questions when you do seek advice.
Affiliate Disclosure:
I am Not receiving a kick back from any of the links or companies mentioned here. Which, unfortunately for you, means no special discounts.
Ok. I realize some of you may not want any help. Or you do, but maybe you feel like asking will make you look weak.
Spoiler: It won’t - But…
Never fear. I gotchyer back.
In case you aren't sure where to look or which brands to try, here are a few herbal formula and supplement recommends - for mentions in the previous article.
Also: Remember that too much of a good thing can simply be too much, though... ie: if one a day works well, just take one a day! If you take two and feel like crap, just take one a day, or one every other day. You get the picture.
(These are good for both men and women)
Vitamin D
This is a great liquid version with K2 in MCT Oil (which is also great for a bunch other things too). With K2 it’s better for bone health as well as energy and hormone balancing help.
DHEA
This one or this one are both really good options. Men can generally take twice as much as women. But, if it feels like too much, take less.
Adaptogen Formulas
There are a lot of them out there. I really like this one though. It’s got a great combination of all the key adaptogenic herbs, and is easy to add to a protein shake or smoothy once or twice a day.
(Women can take these if they want to)
Male Hormone Balancing Herb Formulas
Even though these formulas are specifically made for men, the herbs in them are also beneficial for a lot of women in their transition phases too. Even this one and this one.
Horny Goat Weed
This is actually great for men and women in the Pause. (Haven’t tried this particular one, personally, but I generally trust the company)
Turkesterone
This herb has been used a lot lately by both men and women for building lean muscle mass. There is even some research to show it helps with hormone balancing too.
(Other Possibilities just for men)
Beta Ecdysterone
This supplement is also used for work out improvement, but has a fair amount of research showing enhancement in male hormone production as well.
Male Hormone Stack
This stack has several different herbs and supplements to help support and balance male hormones; and increase workout capabilities. Including Turkesterone and Beta Ecdysterone.
So there you go. A few things to try.
Drop a comment in the post if you try any of these, to let us all know what happened when you did.
Enjoy the new balance and strength!
